Unit 2 Objectives:
By the end of this unit the student should be able to:
1. Describe the characteristics of a composite cell.
2. Describe each type of cytoplasmic organelle, and explain its function.
3. List the four major tissue types, and provide examples of where each occurs in the body.
4. Describe the general characteristics and functions of epithelial tissue.
5. Name the types of epithelium and identify an organ in which each is found.
6. Explain how to classify glands.
7. List the types of connective tissues in the body.
8. Describe the major functions of each type of connective tissue.
9. Describe the general cellular components, structures, fibers, and matrix (if applicable) of each type of connective tissue.
10. Distinguish between the three types of muscle tissues.
11. Describe the general characteristics of muscle tissues.
12. Distinguish between the 2 types of nervous tissue: neurons and glial cells
